About the Institute

The Cognitive Behavioral Institute of Albuquerque was founded in 2004 by licensed clinical psychologist Bradford C. Richards, Ph.D., ABPP.  The institute's mission is to provide the highest levels of treatment and postdoctoral training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy.  In addition, the Institute conducts research on topics of current interest in the field of scientific psychology and provides outreach and continuing education to other mental health professionals.

As scientist-practitioners we strive to deliver the most advanced empirically based treatments available.  That means that we spend a fair amount of time reading and discussing the latest research findings and incorporating them into our work.  The clinical staff meets for two hours each week to discuss difficult clinical issues, assist each other in matching treatments to particular problems, share our understanding of recent advances in the field, and discuss ongoing research projects.

Our educational outreach efforts have included providing continuing education in CBT to the International Congress of Cognitive Psychotherapy (Rome), the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (New York), the New Mexico Psychological Association, the International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy, and other international Associations and their affiliated Institutes.
