RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Dissertation September 2007 – December 2009 Yeshiva University Bronx, New York Title: Mindfulness, Emotional Schemas and Psychological Flexibility Abstract: There are substantial, independent yet related bodies of growing research in the areas of mindfulness, acceptance, experiential avoidance, psychological flexibility, and emotional schemas. While, both emotional schemas and mindfulness have been related to experiential avoidance, to date, the relationship between these constructs has yet to be examined empirically. This study addressed the relationships between dispositional mindfulness psychological flexibility, and the fourteen dimensions of emotional schemas using self report measures. The results of this study revealed that individuals with higher levels of dispositional mindfulness also reported higher levels of psychological flexibility and were more likely to endorse flexible, adaptive dimensions of emotional schemas. Conversely, those individuals who appeared less psychologically flexible or displayed lower levels of dispositional mindfulness were more likely to engage in less adaptive and more rigid responses to emotional experiences.
