08/2009 – 02/2010         New Mexico Veterans Health Care Administration

                                    Postdoctoral fellowship that includes coordinating Albuquerque VA data collection site of National Institute of Health Grant, “The Genetics of Negative Conflict Behavior”. Conduct SCID and CAPS assessments on couples and facilitate conflict discussions between each couple. Participate in quality assurance with Boston data collection site by coding their videotaped psychological assessments via secured internet connection and participating in weekly phone conferences to discuss coding discrepancies. Responsible for training and supervising volunteer, recruitment, submitting quarterly NIMH reports, submitting amendments to IRB, and maintaining database.

One year clinical psychology internship at a college counseling center that includes external rotations at  forensic and civil units of a state hospital as well as a partial hospitalization program for adolescents.

·     Facilitated group therapy for high functioning patients with dementia, primarily Alzheimer’s disease, focusing upon memory strategies and coping skills. Conduct process groups for the caregivers.

·     Co-facilitated individual psychotherapy with children diagnosed with selective mutism using manualized treatment and in vivo exposures.

·     Assisted in conducting and scoring a diagnostic structured interview with parents to screen for client eligibility.

                                    Title: Identifying Youth Psychopathy

Developed a prototypical definition for male youth psychopathy based on expert opinions. Chairs; Christopher Kearney, Ph.D. and Jennifer Skeem, Ph.D.

 

08/2002 – 05/2005         Research Assistant, Personality Features and Social Deviance, UNLV

·     Administered standardized personality and behavioral measures and structured and semi structured diagnostic interviews to incarcerated adult male prisoners in a medium security prison; adults in a mandated substance abuse out-patient program; and adults in a residential substance abuse treatment program.

·     Supervised undergraduates, record review, data management, tracking records and participants in the community for follow up interviews, consultations with substance abuse counselors, case managers, probation officers,  prison warden and prison guards to obtain confidential records and determine safety plans during interviews.
